60,000 stray dogs population has been recorded in Punjab. In which highest number of dogs is in Ludhiana that is 25000 So Punjab government has stepped forward to resolve the issue by launching a policy.

Under which alternative methods will be used for birth control such as dogs would be trained and sold for security purposes. The sterilization process was started in Ludhiana in September 2015 and many dogs were sterilized but a number of dogs were yet to be sterilized. This project was seized after some time.

But on 8th June cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu has said that Ludhiana will be a stray dog-free city in the next 18 months.

He also added that each dog sterilization would cost Rs. 1200 and 100 will be sterilized each day.

After fetching and sterilizing the dogs would be kept under observation for 5 to 6 days and then will be left to the place they were fetched.

If the sterilization process is done as per decided steps it would be a crucial step for the betterment of Ludhiana and for dogs too.
